Qualcomm introduced the MWC 2018 line of Snapdragon 700 processors, designed for powerful mid-range and sub-flags. The key difference between the chips produced in it will be the proprietary AI Engine training system, which migrated from the 800 series.
It will give processors of the Snapdragon 700 line a two-fold increase in the speed of performing AI tasks on the smartphone itself while reducing power consumption. Today, machine learning is used in many activities, mainly related to the recognition of sounds or images. Selection of a scene for pictures, definition of objects, virtual and augmented reality, owner verification, voice control and so on. Hexagon Vector Processor, Adreno Visual Processing module and main computing cores Kryo are also used in all this.
For work with the camera in chips Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 will meet Spectra ISP. Already with the help of built-in algorithms it supports accelerated shooting, different modes for night, day and room – all this again through machine learning. New processors on the main tasks will provide a 30% reduction in power consumption compared to Snapdragon 660. Support for the same technology Quick Charge 4+ will allow charging a battery with a capacity of 2 750 mAh to 50% in 15 minutes.
Smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 chips should be available in the first half of 2018.
